The Greater Thames Estuary is an area with a rich historic environment resource; above and below ground, and above and below water.
In 1999 the Greater Thames Estuary Archaeological Steering Committee (GTEASC) published the first research framework for the area recognising the need for a coherent approach to research in this great European estuary. In 2010 The Greater Thames Historic Environment Research Framework was published.
The 1999 and 2010 frameworks are available online from the Archaeology Data Service website. https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archives/view/gtrf_na_2011/index.cfm
